After yet another poor season, Penn State’s wide receiver room is about to collapse. Kyron Hudson of USC and Omari Evans of Troy are the two new additions to the Nittany Lions for 2025. One 2024 starter is currently leaving.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, junior receiver Omari Evans intends to use the transfer portal. Evans participated in all 16 games despite having six starts, hauling in 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns. Harrison Wallace III was the only one to surpass him in productivity.

With 38 games played, 30 receptions, 564 yards, and seven touchdowns, Wallace concluded his Penn State career. With an average of 18.8 yards per reception throughout his three years, he was a big-play danger.

Throughout 2024, James Franklin gave Evans a lot of praise, referring to the junior’s speed as a superpower and later citing the wide receiver position as a new strength. After that, Penn State’s receivers failed to make a reception in the Orange Bowl defeat to Notre Dame.

Evans’ speed and ability to create plays made him an alluring prospect, and he burnt his redshirt as a freshman in 2022. Before his sophomore season, the former high school quarterback was one of the most talked-about athletes. However, he finished with just four catches and was buried in the depth chart.

As Penn State’s offensive transformation continues, Evans, a native of Killeen, Texas, might look for a program nearer to home.
