(AP) WEST PALM BEACH, FL At President-elect Donald Trump’s exclusive Mar-a-Lago club, American flags are once again flying at full height.

In remembrance of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on December 29, flags are expected to remain at half-staff until the end of January. Following Carter’s burial Thursday in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, a big flag on Trump’s Palm Beach property was first flown at half-staff as required by protocol, but it has now been raised.

The Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, and Democrat President Joe Biden both ordered that American flags be flown at half-staff for 30 days following Carter’s passing or until January 28.

Trump has complained that when he takes the oath of office for his second term on January 20, the flags would be at half-staff. The Republican frequently attacked Democrat Carter during the presidential race, but in a statement following his death at the age of 100, he expressed admiration for the 39th president.

An emailed request for comment on Monday was not immediately answered by a Trump official.

Greg Abbott, the Republican governor of Texas, issued an order on Monday directing all state facilities to fly their flags at full staff on the day of the inauguration.

Abbott stated in a statement, “We must celebrate the service of an incoming President and the bright future ahead for the United States of America while we honor the service of a former President.”

Trump attended Carter’s state funeral service in Washington last week and paid his respects at his casket as it lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda.
