The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has revealed the official start date of the 2025 tax season, even if some of you may think it’s too early.
Additionally, when may individuals anticipate receiving their refunds?
On Monday, January 27, individuals can start submitting their taxes, according to an IRS news release.
According to the statement, the IRS anticipates filing over 140 million individual tax returns for the 2024 tax year before the federal deadline of Tuesday, April 15. The IRS encourages consumers to engage a tax expert to help them avoid scams, as more than half of all tax returns are anticipated to be filed this year with their assistance.
Additionally, qualified individuals can file their taxes for free:The IRS has made it possible for anyone who meet specific requirements to finish this yearly duty for free by offering both Direct File and the IRS Free File Guided Tax Software, which began taking returns last week.
According to that same announcement, the majority of refunds are sent out within 21 days of the tax return being filed. To trace it, you can also use the IRS’s Where’s My Refund? service.
According to the announcement, the IRS is aiming to build on the success of the 2023 and 2024 filing seasons as part of its continuous improvement initiatives. Through additional hours at Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the country, the IRS is once again attempting to offer people more in-person assistance.
The announcement also states that the IRS is still advising taxpayers to visit IRS.gov or a reputable tax expert for assistance with their taxes. Since 2022, IRS has been adding and expanding a range of online tools and services to assist individuals with their taxes as part of its improvement initiatives.
