According to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to let running back Najee Harris depart this offseason. The team is ready to move on and start Jaylen Warren after Harris’ fifth-year option was rejected in May. Given that, the team will need to look for alternatives to complete the depth chart behind him; with a strong running back class, that might be the solution.

Although Harris hasn’t thought much about his NFL future, it doesn’t appear likely that he will return to Pittsburgh.

“I haven’t really thought about it,” Harris remarked.

On Saturday, Harris only had six carries for 17 yards. Since being selected in the draft out of Alabama, he has had four consecutive seasons with 1000 yards with the Steelers. Throughout the time, he is the only player that does that.

During those four years, Harris participated in every game and established himself as the Steelers’ bulwark of health and reliability despite some challenging years. His effectiveness, however, never materialized, largely because of poor offensive line play and strategy that didn’t improve over the course of the term.
