For rock lovers in central Pennsylvania, Lzzy Hale is as close to homegrown as it gets.

It should come as no surprise that the 41-year-old Halestorm actress has many memories about the area because she grew up on a farm in Red Lion. They’re not all wonderful recollections.

For example, Hale talked about ten records that significantly influenced her life in a recent interview with Guitar Player magazine. Tool’s Lateralus was one among them.

According to Loudwire, “My little bro, Arejay, was getting really good on the drums.” I decided to give him the entire album for his birthday as he had learnt Tool’s song “Schism” on the radio. We simply gobbled it up. In the end, I became quite involved myself. It was like viewing a scary movie while listening to their music.

Hale fell in love with Tool, and she was completely enamored with the band when they decided to play nearby. Nate made a mistake, which is when the story takes a turn for the worse.

She remarked, “I got us tickets to see Tool at Hersheypark while working as a (expletive0) waitress.” I was thrilled. Our parents wouldn’t let Arejay leave after he did something that enraged them. I reasoned that this might be a chance to ask someone out, so I did just that. Nate responded “yes” when I asked him.

I thought, “Sweetheart!” she went on. Even if our seats weren’t the best, the show was still fantastic. Every word was sung by me. However, I saw halfway through that my date had fallen asleep, which was a huge deal-breaker for me. Thus, Tool’s Lateralus changed my life in a strange way. My brother still makes fun of me for it, saying that I wouldn’t have slept.

I hope everything worked out after Lzzy sent you packing, Nate, assuming you’re out there.

According to reports, Halestorm and Lzzy are working on a follow-up to their 2022 album Back from the Dead. They will also be joining Iron Maiden on their Run for Your Lives globe tour this year.
