Steelers insider Gerry Dulac stated on Sunday that the Pittsburgh Steelers do not intend to fire head coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin, the Steelers’ head coach, will make a comeback after losing his sixth consecutive postseason game.
Tomlin’s contract expires in 2027, and he still has three years left on it. Even if he hasn’t had a losing season yet, the squad is nonetheless troubled by Art Rooney II’s remarks from last January.
When questioned about the postseason drought, Rooney responded, “Certainly, there’s a resolve and a determination there.” And as I believe I mentioned previously, I believe that everyone who has been here for a while is eager to go on to the next phase and is growing impatient, and we must see the kind of progress that we all desire. Like everyone else in the building, Mike is adamant about that.
Only five coaches in NFL history have lost five or more games in a row during the postseason, including Tomlin. Marvin Lewis, the former head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, holds the record of seven consecutive games.
Tomlin’s retention is not surprising, and the Steelers are anticipated to make adjustments to their coaching staff and routers this offseason.
