Sean Clifford will join the Green Bay Packers’ active roster for the playoffs after playing the entire season on the practice squad.

Clifford’s elevation was formally announced by the Packers on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday at 4:30 p.m., they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL’s Wild Card round.

Clifford has not thrown a pass this season, although he was elevated from the practice squad on game days twice. He will be the backup quarterback, behind Malik Willis and Jordan Love.

Last season, Clifford made three appearances behind Love as a rookie and finished his one and only throw attempt for 37 yards.

The Cincinnati native played in Happy Valley from 2017 to 2022, starting four of those seasons. With 10,661 yards and 86 touchdowns, he was the Nittany Lions’ all-time top passer when he left. In 2023, he was selected by the Packers in the fifth round.
