Prior to their Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles decided to add two seasoned players—wide receiver Parris Campbell and fullback Khari Blasingame—from their practice squad.

For the first time since the team’s Week 13 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, Campbell, who has alternated between the active roster and practice squad this season, will take the field. DeVonta Smith missed the game due to a hamstring injury, thus he was added to the active roster and played 28 offensive snaps.

As the Eagles enter the playoffs, Smith (back) and A.J. Brown (knee) are both battling persistent injuries. After spending the previous season with the Giants, Campbell signed as a free agent in the summer. He has participated in five games so far this season and has six receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. He’ll be playing in his first postseason game.

In contrast, Blasingame will be participating in his sixth postseason game; the first five came during his first three seasons with the Tennessee Titans. After the Eagles lost fullback/linebacker Ben VanSumeren to a season-ending knee injury in early December, he signed with the team’s practice squad after playing in two games for the Chicago Bears earlier in the season.

Blasingame was only on the field for two offensive plays in the three games he played, despite the fact that it was assumed he would take VanSumeren’s blocking position in the four-minute offense. During his three elevations, he played 50 snaps and made a significant contribution on special teams.

There are no restrictions on how many times a practice-squad player may be used in the postseason, but Campbell and Blasingame were both allowed to use the practice-squad maximum three times during the regular season.
