Cornerback Mieky Victor and edge rusher Nathan Pickering were sent by the Pittsburgh Steelers to visit on Friday. The Steelers are a squad that is beginning to look at players for possible reserve or future additions after the season, and both guys are rookies who have failed to stay elsewhere.

During his first season, Victor, a graduate of Alabama State, joined the New England Patriots for training camp. Victor ended the preseason with four tackles, but he was cut and didn’t play on their practice squad. In his last season at Alabama State, he was a finalist for the Aeneas Williams Award, which honors the top defensive back from an HBCU.

Pickering, on the other hand, was a standout edge rusher at Mississippi State. Despite attending training camp, he was not selected for the Seattle Seahawks’ roster or practice squad. In his thirty starts in the SEC, he recorded four sacks and seven tackles for loss during his tenure in Starkville.
