After a multi-vehicle collision near his South Carolina hometown, Robert Quinn, a pass-rushing defensive end who led the Philadelphia Eagles to the 2022 Super Bowl, was taken into custody early Friday morning.
Around two in the morning, police were called to B&N Auto Service on Dorchester Road in North Charleston, according to WCBD News 2. Firefighters on the scene said that Quinn was trying to flee the scene in another car when they arrived, according to the police.
When police stopped a white Dodge Challenge, they reported that vehicle was in reverse. They claimed that the driver informed them that Quinn had contacted her to come get him.
Quinn was discovered in the front seat, according to the police, with fresh blood and obvious head injuries. Quinn’s face and head have multiple areas of missing skin, according to photos given to WCBD.
Quinn’s slurred speech and lack of cooperation were reported by the police. They claimed to have examined cameras that captured the car thought to have been driven by Quinn crossing the median and junction before colliding. According to the police, the car struck a blue Ford F-150 after colliding with a Honda Element, and then struck a Chrysler 300.
According to WCBD, Quinn was arrested by police on suspicion of careless driving and fleeing the scene of a collision with property damage.
Quinn was arrested in August 2023 for several hit-and-run accidents in Summerville, South Carolina, and this is his most recent concerning event.
According to accounts, Quinn turned himself in to the police there after his car struck four cars, a gate, and a lamp post, according to residents. After allegedly striking one of his neighbors, he allegedly drove off.
Quinn is from Ladson, which is close to Summerville and North Charleston. He played football at Fort Dorchester High School.
The 34-year-old Quinn was dealt from the Bears to the Eagles in 2022 in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. During the Birds’ run to the Super Bowl, he played in six games and recorded two tackles.
Since then, he has not participated in NFL games.
Quinn collected 18.5 for Chicago in 2021 and had 102 career sacks.
