Alex Highsmith, an outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is unlikely to play against the Cincinnati Bengals. Highsmith has practiced for the past two days, but he was only marginally involved in both sessions, which probably means he will be back in a week.
Highsmith was hurt when he jumped to block quarterback Jayden Daniels’ screen against the Washington Commanders. His ankle was rolled when he landed on Daniels’ foot. Highsmith was diagnosed with a significant low ankle sprain and was on crutches following the game.
Highsmith required time to heal, but there are some good things that should come from that for the Steelers, like the fact that this ailment shouldn’t last the entire season. He is almost ready to play, but he is not quite there yet.
Additionally, defensive tackle Montravius Adams and cornerback Cory Trice Jr. were declared out by the Steelers. To play, both of them will need to be activated off injured reserve.
