Wannstedt begins by claiming that the legendary Bishop McDevitt preferred USC to Pitt and was determined to play for the Trojans.
Then, during his senior year, McCoy notoriously fractured his leg, which caused USC to revoke their offer.
Wannstedt went to talk to McCoy when his mother, Daphne, called to explain that Shady’s grades were starting to decline.
I ultimately take him under my wing, Wannstedt stated We work out our legs. The rest is history once we figure out the school.
