Pittsburgh –On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers were missing two of their best players. Defensive lineman Cam Heyward remained out with the flu, and kicker Chris Boswell missed out due to illness. After playing with the sickness on Saturday, Heyward has now missed meetings or practiced with it for three days in a row.
Heyward’s presence at the facility on Wednesday suggests that he may be available. But if it doesn’t get better before Saturday’s game against the Ravens, he’ll have to play through it.
Donte Jackson, a cornerback, was given the opportunity to participate this week after being promoted to full participation. His lower back has a pinched nerve that he is coping with. MyCole Pruitt, a seasoned tight end, went the opposite way.
Pruitt’s knee issue prevented him from practicing. This season, he has missed five games due to the persistent problem, and if it doesn’t get better, he might miss a sixth.
In an effort to try out his injured left hand, rookie guard Mason McCormick is expected to begin working into team drills on Thursday.
All four players—defensive lineman Logan Lee, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson, linebacker Cole Holcomb, and wide receiver Roman Wilson—practiced fully in anticipation of their potential return from injured reserve.
