Love has had a knee injury that he made worse during the third quarter of Notre Dame’s victory over Georgia in the CFP quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl. Riley Leonard, the quarterback, and tailback Jadarian Price bore the load in a 23-10 victory, limiting Love to six carries for 19 yards.
Love initially injured his knee during Notre Dame’s victory over USC on November 30. Prior to the Irish’s matchup with Indiana in the first round, he was limited. In Notre Dame’s 27–17 victory over the Hoosiers, Love ran for 108 yards on eight carries, including a 98-yard touchdown.
Love has 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns on 148 carries, making him Notre Dame’s top rusher.
