Last Friday, Penn State Athletics hinted at temporary seating arrangements for the 2025 football season on Beaver Stadium’s west side in an unlisted YouTube video.
The footage, which can only be accessed directly and is not publicly available on Penn State’s channel, shows the press box falling last Saturday and the removal of the upper bowl of the west-side seating that followed. The video revealed plans to replace them with temporary lights above the stadium, a temporary press box in between the bowls, and an upper bowl of seats.
There seemed to be three portions to the makeshift seats. The video also stated that Penn State would not be affecting parking lot 18 during the 2025 campaign.
As part of the $700 million Beaver Stadium makeover, Penn State started extensive improvements on Saturday by demolishing the press box. With the addition of escalators, videoboards, and congregation places on the east side of the concourse, the renovations began in 2024 and are expected to be finished in phases before the 2027 season.
In May 2024, the Beaver Stadium Revitalization was approved by the Penn State Board of Trustees.Since then, the athletic department has disclosed donations totaling $66 million, some of which were anonymous. Among them were the rights to name planned remodeling components.
