The Washington Commanders have a winning record in the postseason for the first time since 2015 and are participating in the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
They achieved this with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, and they ended the season with four consecutive victories, including one against the NFC No. 2-seeded Philadelphia Eagles.
They finished sixth in the league in terms of third-down efficiency percentage (45.6%), third in terms of rush yards per game (154.1), eighth in terms of yards per game (369.6), and fifth in terms of points per game (28.5).
At 8:15 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 12, they will meet Tampa Bay in the playoff opener.
In Week 1’s first game for rookie quarterback Daniels, the Buccaneers defeated Washington 37–20.
Despite his raw appearance in that defeat, Daniels did rush for two touchdowns. By the end of the season, he appeared to be a totally different player. The LSU product is one of only two rookies in history to record 30 total touchdowns, throw for 4,000 yards, and win 10 games. Bo Nix is the other one.
The Commanders have improved their reputation and appear to be a squad that might make the playoffs for many years to come thanks to Daniels.
