Pittsburgh –Mason McCormick, a rookie guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers, suffered a hand injury late in the team’s 19–17 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Mike Tomlin announced following the game. Spencer Anderson took McCormick’s spot after he left the game.
Despite having started since Week 5, McCormickhas is James Daniels’ replacement. Daniels is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a torn Achilles tendon.
McCormick is undergoing evaluation, and it is unknown how severe his injury is. Next week, Pittsburgh will play either the Baltimore Ravens or the Houston Texans in a playoff game.
It appears likely that Anderson will start if McCormick is unable to go. It would not be Anderson’s first NFL experience, since he started in lieu of guard Isaac Seumalo when he was hurt earlier this season.
Running back Najee Harris also briefly left the game to be assessed for a head injury, in addition to McCormick. He is well, though, and it appears that Harris won’t be listed as injured this week.
