Eaglestight endFor the playoffs, Dallas Goedert will be prepared.
Goedert was activated off injured reserve on Saturday after missing the previous four weeks due to a knee ailment. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni intends to rest his starters and a few important backups, so he probably won’t play against the New York Giants on Sunday.

If the Eagles-Giants game had greater significance, Goedert would probably play because he participated fully in every practice this week. However, the Eagles have already secured the No. 2 spot in the NFC and have nothing to gain by using their starting lineup.
When the Eagles play the Green Bay Packers or the Washington Commanders in the NFL Playoffs wild-card round next weekend, Goedert might be rusty.
This season, Goedert also missed three weeks due to a hamstring injury (Week 7-9). During both injury periods, he was replaced by Grant Calcaterra, the Eagles’ backup tight end. He made a one-handed, 34-yard catch on third down in the second quarter of the Eagles’ Week 17 victory over the Cowboys, sparking Philadelphia’s offense after it had been sluggish.
Goedert has caught 38 catches for 441 yards and two scores in nine games so far this season.
Many backups, including even members of the practice squad, will have a chance to show off on Sunday as Goedert and the other starters take it easy.
On Saturday, the Eagles promoted rookie linebacker Dallas Gant and veteran edge rusher Charles Harris from the practice squad. If the game goes out of control, both players may eventually play defense against the Giants’ offensive.
