Penn State had a great Saturday, easily defeating SMU in the first round of the College Football Playoffs. However, not everything worked out for the Nittany Lions.
Miami received a commitment from David Blay, one of Penn State’s top targets on the transfer site. On Saturday afternoon, the news was reported by On3.
Blay was being chased by Florida State, Illinois, Oklahoma, USC, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, and Arkansas in addition to Penn State and Miami.
As the Nittany Lions seek to bolster their defensive line for the 2025 campaign, Blay, a standout at Louisiana Tech who paid them a visit last weekend, was a primary target.
Born in Levittown, Blay attended Harry S. Truman High School north of Philadelphia before moving to West Chester in 2021 and 2022 to play Division II. After transferring to Louisiana Tech, Blay was selected to the first team of the Conference USA this year.
Blay recorded 46 tackles, 10 1/2 tackles for loss, and 6 1/2 sacks at the end of the 2024 season.
In the winter window, Penn State has already addressed a few gaps in the portal, obtaining commitments from Texas A&M defensive end Enai White and USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson. The Nittany Lions, however, would adore the addition of one or two defensive tackles.
