At 8:19 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service released an updated forecast saying that Northern Center and Southern Center, as well as Clearfield, Blair, and Huntingdon counties, would have heavy snow until 9:15 a.m.
According to the meteorological service, “a band of heavy snow was 16 miles northwest of State College moving southeast at 10 MPH at 8:17 a.m.”
The majority of the snow falls between mile marks 130 and 140, which includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 45 to 71. For drivers on Interstate 80, this includes the sections between the Penfield and Snow Shoe exits, precisely from mile markers 117 to 144.
Around 8:20 a.m., Black Moshannon State Park should be covered in a lot of snow.
“If you have to travel into or through this band of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather agency advises. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
