Desmond King, a former cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is being promoted by the Baltimore Ravens from their practice squad. King, who has a wealth of expertise in that capacity from his stint at the University of Iowa, is probably going to be the team’s returner.
Earlier this season, King was cut by the Houston Texans. The Ravens then needed assistance in the secondary, so they came in and snatched him up. With Jalyn Amour-Davis sidelined due to a hamstring injury, King provides depth in the secondary in addition to his ability to return kicks and punts.
Last season, King joined the Steelers. He only played one snap during his brief five-week stay with the Steelers before being cut.
King later went back to Houston, where he started in the slot for the most of the season, including their home playoff triumph over the Cleveland Browns.
King, who was born in Iowa, has played with the Los Angeles Chargers for the most of his career. After slot cornerback Arthur Maulet suffered a calf injury, the 29-year-old will now try to aid the struggling Ravens secondary.
