In order to help cover for Abdul Carter, who is probably leaving for the NFL following the College Football Playoff, Penn State has obtained a transfer portal pledge from another Philadelphia edge rusher.

According to a report released on Friday, Enai White, a defensive end for Texas A&M and a former Imhotep Charter standout, has committed to Penn State.

After spending last weekend in Happy Valley, White made his decision. He joins USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson as Penn State’s second winter transfer portal addition.

The consensus rating for White for the 2022 recruiting cycle was four stars. According to 247 Sports, he was ranked as high as the 38th best player in the US and the second-best prospect in Pennsylvania, only surpassed by Nick Singleton.

Texas A&M was selected by White over Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama, the finalists. After three years at A&M, the 6-foot-5 edge rusher will have two seasons of eligibility at Penn State.

During his first two seasons at College Station, White participated in 12 games. With eight tackles and two TFLs as a rookie in 2022, he appeared to be a bright player. However, he was forced to redshirt and finally hit the reset button this season due to a season-ending knee injury sustained in October.

White is a good addition to Penn State, despite being more of a project. Following in the footsteps of Julian Fleming and Nolan Rucci, he is the most recent top PA talent to transfer to Penn State through the transfer site after leaving the state for another program after high school.

For a defensive end group that will appear different the next season, White’s addition is also crucial. Carter is anticipated to be selected in the top ten NFL drafts.Dani Dennis-Sutton must make a selection for the NFL. Smith Vilbert and Amin Vanover are seniors. After suffering a severe injury, Zuriah Fisher is recuperating.

Penn State needed to use the gateway to at least add defensive end depth. Additionally, White’s arrival strengthens the position going into the 2025 campaign.
