The city of PhiladelphiaAfter Landon Dickerson was hurt on the last play of the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the Eagles’ renowned offensive line was shorthanded by one player in the second half.
During his Zoom call with media on Monday, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni did not provide any updates on Dickerson, so Wednesday’s practice was the first opportunity to learn the extent of the two-time Pro Bowl guard’s ailment.

As the Eagles prepared for Sunday’s NFC East game against the Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland, Dickerson was on the field but did not participate in practice, so we still do not know how badly he injured his knee.
Dickerson’s absence during the team stretch would normally be cause for concern, but Sirianni has been taking players off early in the December season, and the Eagles’ other starting offensive linemen, Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, Mekhi Becton, and Cam Jurgens, were also sidelined on Wednesday. Wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were also out, as was running back Saquon Barkley.
Despite suffering injuries during the game against the Steelers, Barkley and Brown both kept playing.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles will release their practice report.
The main worry is still Dickerson. When defensive lineman Alex Highsmith was firing him, he seemed to contact knees with quarterback Jalen Hurts. After the play, Hurts jogged off the field and into the locker room. Tyler Steen was in at left guard as the Eagles started the second half offensively.
This reality was immediately apparent because Steen received two flags for holding on during the initial offensive series, which concluded with Jake Elliott’s 41-yard field goal giving the Eagles a 20–13 lead.
The Eagles lost special teams star and backup safety Sydney Brownon to a neck injury during Sunday’s first kickoff, in addition to Dickerson. Following a violent high-speed collision with Steelers running back Jaylen Warren, Brown went down. He wasn’t on the field of practice.
Britain Covey, a wide receiver and punt returner, was on the practice field. He missed his second consecutive game against the Steelers due to a neck issue.
Despite missing the most of the second quarter against the Steelers due to pain, Barkley made a comeback in the second half. Early in the second quarter, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick gave him a serious hit. Following the Eagles’ 27–13 victory, the running back was evasive about his problem.
After the game, Barkley said, “Yeah, I was dealing with something.” I won’t go into too much detail about that. Nothing extraordinary. It’s only a small thing. I managed to persevere and make an effort to go out there and make plays. Even though I didn’t have the splash plays I typically do, I managed to go out there and work hard. Simply prepare for next week.
