Earlier this week, Weis Markets revealed that it would be purchasing a stand-alone grocery store in Cumberland County.

According to the Sunbury-based firm, the acquisition of Saylor’s Market, located at 37 Carlisle Road in Newville, is anticipated to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025.

Jonathan Weis, the chairman and CEO of the company, stated that Saylor’s has been a part of the Newville community by putting a great emphasis on customer service and being dedicated to the community. We look forward to interviewing Saylors associates for positions with our organization because we share these values.

Weis stated that the store will temporarily close for conversion after the acquisition.

The family-run Saylor’s, which goes by the slogan “Your hometown proud market,” opened its doors in 1977, according to its website. Curt and Craig Saylor, the sons of founder Donald Saylor, run it.

Two Sunnyway Foods locations in Franklin County were purchased by Weis Markets earlier this year, and on November 1st, they reopened as Weis Market locations.
