Major Four-Vehicle Accident Near Jefferson City: Two Seriously Injured in Highway Pileup

A multi-vehicle crash involving four cars occurred near Jefferson City, resulting in two people sustaining serious injuries and one person with minor injuries. The incident took place on September 18, and three individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the vehicles involved in the crash were a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, a 2014 Honda Civic, a 2020 Honda HRV, and a 2012 Toyota Camry.

The accident happened while all vehicles were traveling southbound on Highway 63, just south of Renz Farm Road.

The accident unfolded at around 7:51 a.m. when the Honda Civic, Honda HRV, and Toyota Camry were stopped in heavy traffic.

Suddenly, the Freightliner tractor-trailer failed to stop in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The force of the collision sent the truck into the back and side of the Honda HRV, which then spun and struck the Toyota Camry.

Juan M. Beltran-Briceno, a 19-year-old from Columbia, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at a local hospital.

More seriously affected were the drivers of the other vehicles. Elleigh N. Wood, 19, from Hallsville, who was driving the Honda Civic, and Leslie A. Turek, 55, from Columbia, the driver of the Honda HRV, both suffered serious injuries and were rushed to local hospitals by emergency medical services.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, likely preventing further severe injuries.
