A Jefferson City resident has been arrested after leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase across the Missouri River Bridge. The individual, identified as 30-year-old Krystal Tucker, faces multiple charges related to the incident.
It all started around 1 p.m. on Wednesday when an officer noticed a vehicle with expired license plates near Missouri Boulevard and West McCarty Street.
The officer attempted to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop and sped away, initiating a police pursuit.
The chase quickly escalated as the driver exited onto Highway 54 and crossed the Missouri River Bridge, heading northbound. During the pursuit, the driver reached speeds of over 100 mph, endangering other motorists on the road.
Officers from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol joined in the pursuit, working together to bring the situation under control.
After following the suspect for several miles, authorities were able to deploy spike strips on the highway, which successfully disabled the vehicle.
Following the spike strip deployment, the vehicle came to a stop, and the suspect was arrested without further incident. Tucker was transported to the Cole County Jail, where she faces a series of serious charges.
The charges include failure to register a motor vehicle annually with the Department of Revenue, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, first-degree property damage, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
One of the most severe charges against Tucker is aggravated fleeing a stop, which could result in significant legal consequences if convicted.
This incident marks another example of the dangers posed by high-speed chases, not only for the individuals involved but for law enforcement officers and the general public as well.
